Working with ECOtality, Sunset Grill has become one of the first independent restaurants in Tennessee to provide the EV charging stations. Anyone visiting Hillsboro Village can use the charging stations free of charge. "Now our customers can fuel their bodies and cars at the same time," says Randy Rayburn, owner of Sunset Grill. "This is the wave of the future and I am proud to be able to bring this service to the Hillsboro Village and Midtown area. Our restaurants have been on the frontline of sustainability and this continues our philosophy of being a great community citizen."It was three years ago that Sunset Grill, Midtown Cafe and Cabana Restaurant were honored with the state's first Pick Tennessee award for sourcing local foods.
The EV Stations can be used by electric vehicles and some hybrids. "We knew this would be popular," says Rayburn. "However,we were quite surprised that the stations started being used the first night they were installed. With gas prices in the almost $4.00 a gallon range there is a demand for this type of vehicle and service and we are proud to provide it."
